6/7/2023 0 Comments La noche boca arriba englishA nice analysis of this story here (in Spanish) Night Face up in Russian here (I believe!). Night Face Up has also been turned into a short film by Zhanna Kleiman in 1999, " Fear of Alternate Realities". In the end, where lies reality? Cortazar is a master of alternative realities. In the middle of his hazy fever, he dreams he is a fugitive, trying to hide from the Inca indians, who are active in their annual man hunt for the ritual human sacrifice. Night, Face Up tells us the story of a nameless man who is driving a motorbike, is involved in an accident and ends up in the hospital. This is just an old impression of a story, years after, but this dreamlike scenario has repeated itself in fiction, even in recent films (The Panic Room). One of them that I can not remember any more has this story of a group of people, refugees in a big house that is being occupied by the enemy and they are left, little by little, with less and less space. I remember reading Bestiario and Todos los Fuegos el Fuego. Julio Cortazar was an old time discovery read during university years, the revolutionary Argentinian. ![]() ![]() Yesterday I've read a short story by Julio Cortazar included in the anthology The Vintage Book of Amnesia that I got for 3$ at a Barnes and Noble sale.
